LCL Green Connect Event

We invite you to join our new networking event based around sustainability

At LCL, sustainability is a core responsibility. We go beyond reducing CO₂ emissions and using renewable energy by also focusing on key areas such as the circular economy. Our partnership with Close the Gap perfectly reflects this commitment to giving technology a second life.

The LCL Green Connect Event brings together industry leaders, experts, and partners to explore the power of circular IT and sustainable innovation. This event also marks the celebration of LCL’s EcoVadis Platinum certification, recognising our continuous efforts in ESG and responsible business practices. We will highlight the projects and initiatives LCL is driving to create a meaningful impact.

Join us on 3 April 2025 at the new Circular IT Group (CTG Circular) facility for an inspiring afternoon dedicated to impact-driven technology, sustainability, and the circular economy.

In this keynote, we will explore the opportunities and challenges of AI, as well as the impact of the circular economy in the IT sector. How can we use AI responsibly? How can we extend the lifecycle of IT equipment? This session will encourage you to reflect, challenge assumptions, and rethink digitalisation for a more sustainable future.

We are looking forward to welcoming you!

Keynote speaker: Bjorn Cumps

Bjorn Cumps-0267

Bjorn Cumps has a passion for banking and technology - and sees technology as a great catalyst for change, inspiration, and innovation. He strongly believes the new digital mindset will reshape our current financial landscape - which is why he's fascinated by FinTech and the way it brings traditional banks, tech companies and digital start-ups together. He's also interested in topics including challenger banks, open and beyond banking, robo-advisors, DLT and crypto and token economics.

At Vlerick, Bjorn focuses on developing FinTech teaching and research. He leads our FinTech Bootcamp for Masters and MBA students and teaches courses in FinTech and platform business management.

Before starting his academic career, Bjorn held various positions at KBC Bank and Insurance.

Keynote speaker: Didier Appels

As a social entrepreneur, Didier Appels' focus lies on circular economy solutions. He believes that with re-use (circular economy), we can create a positive ecological and societal impact. He focuses mainly on creating positive impact with the reuse of ICT devices (Circular IT Group, CTG Circular, Close the Gap) and the renovations of buildings (Ecowonen).

As a former banker, he's convinced that sustainability, impact and a good business case can and should go hand in hand. True sustainability should imply that businesses can survive within their own ecosystem of clients and stakeholders.
