The entertainment sector cannot exist without connectivity

Collaboration, infrastructure, and scale make the difference

Flanders is home to exceptional talent, strong creative makers, and a rich cultural tradition. At the same time, its media landscape is largely made up of small and medium-sized players. They operate with agility and creativity, but they reach their limits as soon as pressure increases, especially when speed, scalability, and compliance all come into play. Too often, the sector still falls back on a go-it-alone reflex: each organisation tries to solve things independently, with great commitment, but without enough scale.

These challenges do not exist in isolation. During a roundtable with representatives from media, connectivity, culture, and academic institutions, one conclusion was widely shared: these challenges are structural. They go beyond individual organisations and require a collective response.

This whitepaper captures the essence of that conversation and speaks to a broad range of players within and around the media sector. It is intended as a discussion tool for the entire sector.
